Volume 1 consists of twelve master classes and thirteen etudes that progress gradually. It includes a CD which has audio recordings of the master classes and the etudes. Volume 2 of Beginning Jazz Clarinet Studies continues where Volume 1 left off. The book and CD include ten master classes and ten etudes on jazz syncopation, the blues, and running eighth notes. Volume 2 reaches into the upper register and is more technically challenging than Volume 1. It also features three master classes on jazz composition and playing by ear.
